Dovedale, Peak District, Derbyshire

Dovedale is one of Derbyshire’s finest and most popular dales and is a renowned beauty spot visited by many tourists.

It is around 2-3 miles along the river Dove and boasts stunning scenery and many walks. There are numerous places of interest including the famous stepping stones, Thorpe Cloud, the village of Ilam, The River Dove, Ilam Park, and more.

Thorpe Cloud

There are numerous walks around the area, from the easy and gentle to the more demanding walks such as up to Thorpe Cloud, or over Bunster Hill and the surrounding areas. A little further afield you’ll plenty of other walking areas such as Wetton, find the impressive Thor’s Cave in the Manifold Valley.

Dovedale is mainly Limestone, which gives ‘The White Peak’ area of the Peak District its name. Due to its unique nature and location, there and many rare flowers and other wildlife in the area. It also encompasses impressive rocky landscapes and undulating hillside. Dovedale is always worth a visit during your stay at either of our cottages.
